      Tunze nano 6025 mods

Someone was asking me to post pics of how to mod tunze nano's for more flow, and I found my pics for both that, and wider flow mod as well, figured I'd post pics.

First, wide pattern mod, which is basically just making the outflow tube shorter.

I use a rubber band as a guidline to cut straight, and a cutting wheel on dremel.

Afterwards the screen just pops back into place.

Another great idea from our local hand model! Expensive mistake if ya mess up. I like the rubber band idea !!! Simple but yet so ingenious. Sometimes the simplest ideas are right in front of your face wrapped around your daily newspaper! Good idea!

Next is mod to increase flow, guessing about 1,100gph, not bad on 7 watts.
Basically just pull shroud, and cut out the tube looking area.

And I like to clean it up with some kind of sanding wheel.

Well, it's just shroud, so if you mess up somehow, it's a cheap replacement.
Also, last I've read tunze recognizes this mod, and agrees it increases flow safely, and this does not void warranty.

Came across this old thread. Great pics. Dave. I have two 6025s and can't remember where I found it, but I did a different mod. It started out the same as yours, but instead of cutting out the "tube looking area" the mod I found showed 3 slits cut on the now shorter outflow tube.

Since one of my tunze shafts broke recently, it was replaced for free and now I am wondering which mod is better. Any ideas?
      150g glass w/ corner overflow , 60g sump w/refugium, Eheim 1262 return, SRO 2000int skimmer, ATI Dimmable Sunpower 8x54w fixture, 2 Tunze 6105 and 2 tunze 6025 modded.

Not sure which is better, but since you have two, why not try both and see.
Worse case scenario you just buy another shroud, but I bet it'll be fine.
I haven't seen that mod of yours, usually I just see this mod used.

The original write up on the 3 different mods for the 6025 was on SDMAS, but I found a thread over on RC. Post 191 shows all three mods. I currently have the full blast mod on 1 of my tunzes, minus the cutting down of the "tube" inside the shroud. I think I'll also add this so I get the full blast, and do the same to my other recently replaced 6025. Just thought I'd share the 3 different mods. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=8
